British tanks have good penetration at right angles, but when you do penetrate there's no filler on any of their effective shells - the base frag round at T3 can penetrate a Puma and little else, and while the APDS round can penetrate pretty much everything reliably, it can only snipe individual crew members, if you're lucky. The cookie-cutter platitude repeated en masse by someone who hasn't ground out the Brit tier beyond a Cromwell or Churchill. Armor thickness barely matters when your hull's just flat-sided box with ammo racks on the sides. The main weakness of German tanks is just their construction. Americans are easier to place shots on but at certain mid-tier BRs you literally can't penetrate them from some angles with the majority of German guns. In short, Russian tanks are easily dealt with by Germans with proper shot placement. Hellcats love taking long flanks because they're so fast, and their 3" gun lets them effectively capitalize on catching you with your pants down. Playing through the 3.7-4.7 BRs as Germans can be frustrating when half of the opposing team drives Jumbos, and as soon as Hellcats can get into your battles you have to be cognizant of your teammates' positions and sight lines at all times and adjust your position accordingly. If you try to pop them through the front plate you're going to have a bad time unless you're up close.Īmericans are bastards in ground realism battles at certain BRs. They're often sloped but German guns have good performance across all ranges and very good accuracy, so you can reliably hit any weak points that are exposed (typically the turret or topmost bits of the hull on the sides). The general theme for fighting Russian tanks from low- through mid-tier is just shot placement. The most challenging Russian tanks I've faced are T-44s, which are difficult to penetrate for the couple of German tanks that still use 75s near that BR but not so tough against the PaK/KwK-43s. I never really saw the Russian bias as a German player, TBH.
